Do scientists pray?

Dear Phyllis,

I have tried to respond to your question as simply as I could. Here is my answer

Scientific research is based on the idea that everything that takes place is determined by laws of nature, and therefore this holds for the actions of people.

For this reason, a research scientist will hardly be inclined to believe that events could be influenced by a prayer, i.e., by a wish addressed to a supernatural being.

However, it must be admitted that our actual knowledge of thee laws is only imperfect and fragmentary, so that, actually, the belief in the existence of basic all-embracing laws in Nature also rests on a sort of faith.

All the same this faith has been largely justified so far by the success of scientific research.

But, on the other hand, everyone one who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe – a spirit vastly superior to that of man, and one in the face of which we with our modest powers must feel humble. In this way the pursuit of science leads to a religious feeling of a special sort, which is indeed quite different from the religiosity of someone more naïve.

I hope this answers your question.

Best wishes,
Albert Einstein

Become dear to the devotees

"If somehow or other we become dear to a devotee, Krsna will be there to save us. Of course dangers will come, risks will come, even sometimes struggling and suffering will be there but in the end Krsna will save us."

Dislocated

When the chips are down we tend to feel dislocated.

I don't mean literally (as this is very painful !) but in a spiritual
sense.

Someone is not seeing eye to eye with us.

This escalates into a cold war.

People take sides.

"She is like this - he said this - she did that..."

If our daily sadhana is poor then these things will majorly affect us.
We will get pulled into the pettiness and start to develop a taste for
it... even more so then our chanting and reading. This is why it is so
important to just be simple, sincere, honest and faithful to the
process.

Try to remember how we felt when we first came to Krsna Consciousness -
the newness, innocence, purity of it all ... and just strive to always
be in that consciousness.

But Maya is so subtle.

She creeps is really slowly.

If you are reading and someone calls - let them wait. Is it a matter of
life and death to take the call? If so then take the call... if not then
LEAVE THE PH0NE ALONE !!

Is it a matter of life and death to read however? YES! Spiritual life
and death that is.

Just try and maintain a healthy dose of regular reading and chanting, &
eating Krsna prasadam.

Special Message !

Here is what HH Radhanath Swami wrote in my copy of the 'Journey Home' - his autobiography.

It says:

Thank you for being you.

My prayers and affection are always yours.

Back from Ireland!

I am back from my short trip to Ireland.

I went from Friday 11th September to Friday 18th September... attended Belfast and Dublin Ratha Yatra and got back in time to attend Brighton Ratha Yatra yesterday!

The above pic is of my mate Shelina's Gaura Nitai Deities. They are wearing a maha outfit from the Gaura Nitai at Soho Street. The Deities are really heavy and very big ... I tried to steal Them but They exceeded my luggage allowence so I had to leave Them ... don't worry boys... next time!

This is Sri Sri Radha Govinda at Inish Rath.
Shelina lives a barge ride away from the Island temple.

Dublin Ratha Yatra

Here is a mild mannered bramacari by day called Dina Dayal dasa who turns into a sword wielding fighter on stage!

Very entertaining but not sure what impression he left on a non-KC audience !

This is the play "the 3 modes of material nature" ... the lady in white is a jiva and I am sure you can guess who is the mode of ignorance, passion and goodness.

Srila Prabhupada watching the festivities.

Back with a stick this time!

Oh dear ... here is me (in pink) looking like I have eaten one to many pies and Bhudevi Sundari dd.

Spiritual Foundation

One thing I really believe in is that we have to work on our spiritual foundation first and foremost. If we do not do this than our house...
